A Poem For Connall From His Mummy

Words are all I can give you

Love is all I can feel for you

You are our precious angel always

Yet you are only allowed to stay for a short while

My emotions are like the rough seas pounding onto the black rocks of my soul

Your parents are broken in their pain for you

Yet our pain is coloured with our pride

That we have been given something so precious

So perfect in our eyes and hearts

You will always be our perfect moment

Nothing will ever take that away, not even death

So sleep safely in the knowledge that you are so precious to us

Until maybe one day we can be a family again.

Heart of stone

Heart of stone

Awaiting to break

Pouring in red ruby blood without stake

Wanting to be heard awaiting its time

When fate and destiny will combine

Sad and gentle heart on white angel wing

Soaring to the place where pain no longer stings

Words for Connall

The world for one moment was a perfect place

A better place for you being in it

An angel had escaped from heaven

To be with his family

To show them what true love is

Even though the form you came to us in was wounded

Your bravery shone like a beacon

Our valiant little soldier who's heart lit the way to heaven

And though you have to leave us

You can never be separated from us

You will live in us every day

You are in the rising of the sun and the twinkle of the stars

You are in the laughter of all children as they play

You are in the tenderness of words spoken between two lovers

You are in your parents hearts safely cherished forever more

We will always love you.

Who would of you been, Daddies boy ?

Who would you of been ?

If God had allowed us time

What amazing beauty would of we discovered through you

If we had been given time

I see a little boy in his father's image

Perfect in every way

Beautiful bright eyes with thick curly lashes full of wonder

With a little square nose and a wide cheeky grin

Smiling serenely as I catch him in the biscuit tin

Playing with his toys telling mummy his views on the world

Delighting in its discoveries

The apple of his parent's eyes

He would have had all the cheekiness of his father

And all the contemplativeness of his mother

I can see him clearly our little star

Shining in the world

Knowing he is precious to all

If There Was A Prayer

If there was a prayer to be said

It would be thank you for our angel

Thank you for the time we will have as a family

Thank you for his being and soul you created

Thank you for all that we do not see and should be glad of

Please let us love together as a family

Precious Moments

Don't separate me from you by endless days

I wish time could stand still

Then I would be forever in those precious moments

Never leaving

Why does it seem an age since what happened

Yet it is no time at all

I feel like a brief dream passed my way

And the feelings of it were wrapped up there

My mind fears

I must write down all those memories

Fearful of forgetting

Yet I am sure my heart carries them safe

Secretly locked away

Little Angel

My perfect little angel

You had the most beautiful features

Blue Blue eyes, red curly hair

Flat little ears, long fingers and big feet

You are the most precious and best thing

I have ever done in my life

I am complete forever knowing I have known you

Thank you for letting me be your mummy

An honour I can never thank you enough for

You have taught me true love that lasts forever

Rest easy my little boy

In My Arms

In my arms you lay sweet child

My perfect little stature of love

My soul longed to keep you warm wrapped up in your woollen blanket

My tears fell warm onto your cold perfect skin

As I sat in that room with you in my arms

Watching time unravel in front of me

Though I was in that void where time ceased to be

As I sat and listened to the other women's cries

Bringing forth new life

All I wanted to do was warm you up breath my life into your body

To bring you back from where your spirit went

Connall's Journey

On the day that was yours to show the world your journey

We traveled as a family for the first and last time

Your parents sat in the back

Watching in pride your tiny little casket

Lovingly stroking the beautiful white fibers that kept your little form protected and safe from the cruel harsh world

White and perfect like your soul

As we drove with slow grace, I felt pride at people's shocked stares at your tiny bed of silent sleep

Even then you taught total strangers your precious grace

And all I could pray was that they realised life for that one moment they encountered my precious little boy

Connall David Miles

Father and Son

Comfortable in your Daddies arms you lay

Knowing his love for you

The two most precious beings in my life

Held together in undying love

Simon you look like you have held a baby for a thousand years,

You fit together like two pieces of a puzzle

Joined forever in spirit that only you two can explain.

Connall

Some people live for a long time

Yet they don't change the world

Connall you lived such a short time

And the world will never be the same again

God creates many souls and gives them their meaning

Yours was so precious

You taught mummy love, a love that will never be explained

You are now an Angel, our brightest star

The world silently weeps that you are no longer here

But you have given so much that your spirit is always with us

Our brave beautiful precious little Connall.

Mary's Child

I know how Mary felt

When she saw her child hang from the cross

The child she carried in her womb

Felt every flutter and movement

So cruelly taken from her loving arms

A mothers love for her own so powerful and strong

Those first tears wept by the mother of all mothers

Carries on throughout the ages never forgotten.

Connall David Miles

My arms have held a piece of heaven

A red curly haired cherub

With skin the colour of fairest porcelain

Nestled against mine

The most precious touch my skin, heart and spirit has felt

Dark blue eyes surrounded by the fairest of lashes and eyebrows

Beautiful long fingers that you held just like mummies

Big feet with delicate toes

Even your little cries no choir of angels could sing as sweetly

That is how you are remembered in my heart

A brave little spirit who gave everyone their special moment

An unselfish little boy who gave us his everything until he had to go

Yes I wish you were here in Mummies and Daddies arms now

But my wishes were granted the day I first saw you

Just to meet you and say hello, I can ask no more

I cant imagine how it would have been if you had the chance to grow up

How does perfection grow?

To me you will always be my perfect beautiful little baby

Ageless, bright a shining star

Our little Peter Pan the boy who never grows up

When ?

When the last precious breath left your beautiful body

Who came for you to take you away?

Who took your little brave spirit in their arms?

And whispered come with me

Was it a choir of angels that held you tight?

Loving you like Mummy and Daddy

Was it one of our families long ago gone?

Did you little spirit fly up to perfection

Or did you want to stay

With the love that your parents wanted to keep you safe and warm

Did God know of your passing?

Was he waiting there for you?

Did he tell you?

Well done my precious you lived perfectly?

Did everything you needed to do.

Where Has My Precious Baby Gone?

I long to know where my little one has gone to

I look for you everywhere

I imagine I see your image in the clouds

Their fluffy edges creating the contours of your perfect face

Is your spirit in the nature I see all around me?

Do you fly with the birds in the sky?

What has happened to your soul?

Has it gone back to the place it was created?

Where is that precious spark that is you?

That only your parents would know

Who looks after you now?

Who holds you in their arms and adores you

Telling you stories rocking you gently

Your parents do that every day in their hearts.

Words for Connall's Internment

Dearest Connall,

As we lay you down in your final place of sleep

With all these other angels to look after you

Let the soil be your blankets

Let the stars be your night-lights

Let all the seasons of the year whisper your parent's love and pride in you

Please do not fear, Mummy and Daddy love you so much

You taught us so much with your little precious soul

Thank you for letting us hold you in our arms

Thank you for our time with you to tell you our love for you

That love is like a seed in our hearts, forever growing

Even though we have to continue on with our lives now

You have and are the best part of them

The most perfect part of them

Nothing will ever be the same again

We will always think on you for the rest of our lives

So now your spirit is free to fly

Let it be surrounded in the knowledge of our love for you

Our perfect one, created in love.

A Sea Of Windmills

I used to think the sea was blue

But alas I see I was so wrong

I gaze upon a new sea not cold and dark

So many rainbow colours so bright and strong

This gentle sea of spinning love

Fueled by loves lost heart and soul

A gentle rhythm, only very few can hear

Its gentle tones in its innocent song

In so many textures and colours they spin

Yet each ripple so unique on its own

Splashing down wave upon wave of colour into this world

Precious colours of love that never will fade at all

Those Early Days

I remember those days as if yesterday

Shrouded in a nightmare of unreality

Two lost souls grasping blindly into the vacuum of our lives

Into a void that none, but us could even see

I remember those first few days

Statues staring emptily at those same four walls

The quietness so loud hurting our minds

As abundant blooms grew strong

Into the many glass vases that seemed to appear

Our senses dulled to their fragrance and colour

Characterising life that was alien to us

The world darkened with thick charcoal blackness

As two empty people just sat

Expectantly waiting for something to occur

The white crisp cards with delicate gold writing

The empty faces that spoke silently to our ears

Just two sets of hands clinging onto each other

As time brought with it a new reality
